Gill Sans, the "Helvetica of England"

(Typographic poster about the typeface Gill Sans and its history. How is Gill Sans created and why Gill Sans.)

Gill Sans is a mono and classic humanist sans serif
typeface that has deep reverence for tradition.

My concept evolve around how Gill Sans was created. I was inspired by the fact that the distinguish alphabet "g" in Gill Sans is made of four circles. Adding on the Gill Sans' unique characteristic as a typeface, I interact it with the colour silver. Silver not only has properties like gray, but is also associated with the meanings of industrial, sleek, modern and sophisticated, hence befitting of Gill Sans which also carry characteristic of a serif typeface. The body text is then layout to enhance the beautiful "curves" in Gill Sans.
